Two Artists

At 314 Abercrombie Gallery, we are currently showing work by Stefan Kater and David Edi, two artists whose practices sit apart, yet meet in a shared intensity of vision.

Kater’s work carries a precision that feels deliberate, almost architectural in its restraint. There is a sense of control, of decisions made and held. Nothing is accidental. The viewer is asked to slow down, to look again, and to sit within the space the work creates.

In contrast, Edi’s paintings move with a different energy — expressive, searching, and emotionally immediate. There is a narrative quality that emerges through texture and gesture, where the work seems to unfold rather than declare itself.

Placed together, these works do something interesting. They do not compete. Instead, they hold tension. One pulls inward, the other outward. One refines, the other releases.

This is what a small gallery can do well — create space for these encounters without over-explaining them.

For collectors, it is an opportunity to see two distinct approaches side by side. For artists, it is a reminder that there is no single path through practice — only the one you commit to.

For everyone else, it is simply an invitation to come in, stand in front of the work, and see what holds.
